Teaching People How to Use Drugs
Training, counseling, consulting, and education to promote healthy relationships with drugs
Why so cynical?
The purpose of project cynic is to promote healthy attitudes toward drugs and the people who use them through fact-based information and swift deconstruction of fear-based nonsense.
We offer services to teach people how to use drugs safely and responsibly
A Safety Enhancement Approach to Combat Fear Based Nonsense
How to Use Drugs: A Safety Enhancement Approach to Combat Fear Based Nonsense is a long name for our approach to training, treatment, and education about drug use. Our manualized curriculum, handouts, worksheets, and group/classroom activities can be used to enhance the safety of individuals who use drugs. Materials from this curriculum and other related products can be found here.
We do not endorse a harm reduction approach. The term harm reduction implies that drug use causes harm and that our only hope is to reduce these inevitable harms. Although well intended, harm reduction is a reflection of our antiquated and regressive drug policies and interventions. Our Safety Enhancement approach includes education, skills, strategies, and tools individuals and organizations can use to help themselves and their clients improve their relationships with drugs.
The Cynics
The cynics were a bizarre band of Greek philosophers who challenged and rejected social and political norms and expectations. They believed in living in harmony with nature and fervently opposed social conventions in pursuit of mental clarity.
Despite their eccentric rejections of social norms, their philosophy promoted critical thought, skepticism, and rejecting tradition in favor of honesty, clarity, and wisdom.
The Cynic philosophy inspired this project to help promote truth and wisdom through rejection of our antiquated fear-based attitudes about drug use.
